Born Pretty Store Haul and First Impressions*

Sometime last month I was kindly asked whether I wanted to try a few products from the Born Pretty Store, and as I have actually purchased a few products from them in the past, I jumped at the chance! If you haven't came across this online makeup store then I'd definitely recommend checking it out (here) as they offer a huge range of products at insanely affordable prices. I have decided to pick out an eyeshadow palette and a liquid lipstick as I have read some great reviews on both! They also very kindly left me with a discount code for you guys which I will leave at the end of the post.

Also, today is the last day for you to enter my Mac giveaway (here)! Thank you to everyone who has entered and good luck :)

Earth Tone Eyeshadow Palette (currently on sale for only £5.21!!!) - As we are now in Autumn, I decided to pick up this earth toned eyeshadow palette which includes a range of 15 matte and shimmery shadows. The shadows come in a plain black case, pretty basic but slim. This palette includes some beautiful shades, my favourite being the more orange/peachy toned ones, although there are some shades that look very similar when swatched! As you will be able to see from the swatches below the shadows are very pigmented, especially the shimmery shades.

Liquid Lipstick in '08' (£1.30) - The other product that I decided to pick up was one of their liquid lipsticks in the shade '08', a beep pink berry. I'd actually read a few good reviews on these before hand so thought it'd be a good product to go with. As soon as this arrived I popped it on and fell in love with the colour! The applicator makes the lipstick easy to apply and deposits the right amount of product. When first applied the lipstick can feel very sticky so make sure not to press your lips together too much, however once dried makes for an incredibly pigmented and fairly long lasting lipstick that is perfect for this time of year!

The team from Born Pretty Store have very kindly given me a 10% discount code for you guys to use! Enter the code 'SJBH10' at the checkout to save 10% on your order, everyone loves a bargain don't they?!

Have you ever tried anything from this online store? What did you think?

Rediscovering Old Favourites: Bourjois, TBS, Sleek + More

In a bid to save some money, this month I have been trying to use up the makeup products that I already have in my collection and in doing so, have rediscovered some of my old favourites. I have tried and tested so many products in the past year or so and can sometimes forget about some of the really great products that I have tried. Here are a few that I have again, fallen in love with.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in '07 Nud-ist' - I have been wearing this a lot the past week and I now remember why I loved it so much! It glides on to the lips, never looking too much or too little. It doesn't dry them out or go clumpy as some liquid lipsticks do and stays put the whole day. Yes. The whole day.

Sleek Blush by 3 in 'Califon.i.a' - I picked this palette up sometime last year I think, and although I love it don't get enough use out of it. In a bid to use up some of my older products before they become too out of date to use, I have been incorporating this into my daily makeup routine. I like to mix the two pink-toned shades together and apply using my Real Techniques Expert Face brush. The cream blushes are very easy to blend and have a lovely finish on the skin.

Mac Eyeshadow in 'Omega' - 'Omega' is the perfect shade for filling in blonde/light brown brows. I apply a tiny amount using my Mac 208 brush and then set with a brow gel (lately i've been loving Loreal's Brow Plumper in the shade 'Blonde'). It look natural and lasts all day.

Maybelline Colossal Lash Mascara - Another mascara that I have been re-using a lot is the Colossal Lash Mascara by Maybelline. It gives a good amount of curl and volume and lasts all day. It doesn't transfer under the eyes so can also be worn on the lower lashes.

The Body Shop Teat Tree Lotion - If you've been reading my blog for a while then you may remember this old favourite of mine. I used to used this lotion religiously but somewhere along the road forgot how great it was. I have now began to reintroduce this into my night time skin routine and my skin has never looked better.

Are there any old products that you've rediscovered?

My Top 3 Drugstore Concealors

Finding a good concealor at the drugstore can be tricky, though there are a handful out there! When looking for a good quality concealor you want to consider its texture, its pigmentation, its longevity and whether or not it creases. I feel as if I've found three of the best that really work for my skin. I tend to alternate between the three depending on the overall look I'm going for. What are your favourite drugstore concealors?

Formula:

Maybelline Fit Me Concealor (you can find a more in-depth review here), £5.99 - Maybelline's Fit Me concealor quickly became my favourite after reading countless reviews  of it online. It has a creamy formula, making it perfect for concealing under and around the eyes. It covers darkness, is easy to blend and doesn't crease. I dab a few dots of this under the eye and around any areas of redness and blend in either with my fingers or a Real Techniques Setting brush.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealor - This concealor is the newest to me out of the three. I picked it up, again after hearing a ton of rave reviews and have been very pleased. The formula is a lot thinner in consistency but does the job to cover dark circles nicely. I use this when I want a slightly more highlighted look as the shade I have is fairly pale. I prefer to blend this one out with a damp Beauty Blender style sponge or with my fingers.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealor - I'm sure that everyone has heard of or tried this concealor out at some point of another. I can't even tell you how long i've been using it as it has been such a long time! Although this one can be worn under the eyes, the thicker consistency works better to conceal blemishes. I dab a tiny amount of this onto any visible blemishes after applying foundation and blend/pat out using my fingers.

Applicator:

Maybelline Fit Me Concealor - This comes with a simple dofer applicator making it fairly easy to apply.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealor - This however, comes with a sponge tip applicator. Although not the most hygienic applicator, this disperses an even layer of product.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealor - Again, this come with a dofer applicator.

Shades/colours:

Maybelline Fit Me Concealor - This concealor comes in a fairly yellow based tone, making it great for brightening under the eyes.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealor - I'd say that this is the most brightening of the bunch, again due to its yellow undertones.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealor - This one comes up slightly peach-toned though when blended in matched my skin perfectly.

October Blogging Goals

Last months blogging goals went well to say the least, and to celebrate, I have launched a small giveaway to say thank you. (Check out my last post if your interested in winning a Mac eyeshadow!). I've decided to continue with this kind of post as last month it really did help to keep me focused.

1. Run my first successful giveaway - As I previously mentioned, I've launched a small giveaway to say thank you to you, my followers as last month I reached 100 Bloglovin followers.

2. To schedule as many posts as possible - I am usually one for scheduling posts in advance but over the last few months have seemed to leave things until the last minute. This month I will make it my goal to schedule as many of my posts beforehand so that posts go live at a regular time and day.

3. To discover at least five new blogs - I love finding new blogs to follow but lately haven't really stumbled over many. This month I would love to find at least five news ones to follow so if anyone has any favourites, please let me know!

Do you have any blogging goals for this month?

100 Followers Giveaway!!

Last month was a very exciting one for me as my little beauty blog hit 100 followers! In the grand scheme of things 100 followers may not seem like a lot but it's one of the first major milestones for any newbie blogger. As a way to say thank you, I've decided to hold a little giveaway which will run for 10 days (the end date is the 16th October). Unfortunately, this giveaway will only be available to those living in the Uk, but hopefully any others in the future will run internationally!

I will be giving away a Mac Refill Pan in the shade 'Naked Lunch'. I decided on this shade as it's one of my favourites, and one that I think would look lovely on so many skin tones. It can look great as an 'all over the lid shade', an inner corner or brow bone highlighter or even as a cheekbone highlight. I decided to pick up a refill pan for you as I know that so many people already have Mac palettes, and if you don't, then this could be a great shade to begin with (it was actually one of my first Mac shadows in my quad palette).  If you'd like to see the shade in more detail then click here!

I wanted to keep this giveaway simple so all you have to do to enter is to make sure that your following me via Bloglovin! The winner will be contacted within two days of the closing date and if they do not respond within 3 days an alternative winner will be chosen, so keep an eye on your emails!

a Rafflecopter giveaway
Good luck to everyone, and again, thank you! The fact that people follow and enjoy reading my blog really does mean a lot to me :)

September Favourites

This month was mainly focused on getting back into the swing of things, both with college, and blogging and because of this, I have been trying out a lot of new products. There are a handful of products that I have absolutely loved and have been using consistently this month, mainly makeup products!

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara - I'm not usually one for using high end mascaras, but this one has turned out to be one of the best mascaras that I've ever tried. It gives the perfect amount of curl, volume and length to my lashes and holds well throughout the day, The packaging is also stunning!

Mac Eyeshadows in Omega and Wedge - Since I picked up Soap and Glory's Brow Archery pencil, I haven't use a powder to fill my brows, however this month my beloved brow pencil ran out so had to make do with my old favourites. I have been using a mix of these two shades from Mac along with a small angled brush, then setting with a brow gel.

Soap and Glory Solar Powder - If you have fairly pale - medium skin, I'd definitely recommend this bronzer. It's semi-matte, comes with two shades which you can either wear alone or swirl together, and can be used to bronze or contour. I love the natural but buildable finish that it gives, and it has been the bronzer that i've been wearing most days this month.

From Dusk Til Dawn - This month I felt like I was stuck in a bit of a rut when it came to finding a new tv series to watch, so on a whim, I decided to watch this Netflix original and I love it! I currently completely up to date and am waiting patiently until next Wednesday when the next episodes will be out. Please, please, please let me know what tv shows you've been loving in the comments section!! :)

My followers - I'm going to be really cheesy for a moment and say that you guys were one of my favourite things this month. If you haven't already read my 'September Goals Post', then you may not have noticed that this month I finally reached 100 Bloglovin followers. I am so so happy about this and cannot believe that 100 people take interest in my little beauty blog.  Thank you so much and keep tuned for a little giveaway that will be coming your way very soon!
