Review: The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion

This is honestly the best product I have found to reduce/remove spots, in a very long time! I wouldn't say I have acne as such, but I do get blemishes from time to time and am always looking for a way to get rid of them quickly, with as little scarring as possible. This product works to 'fade' blemishes, as the name would suggest and I have seen a very visible improvement from using this for over a month now. I can honestly say that this has worked so well for my skin, and hopefully it will continue to do so!

I apply this every night after cleansing my skin, and rather than applying it all over the face as the instructions tell you, I have been applying it to the blemished areas of my face only , which is usually around my chin or t-zone area. This lotion feels so comfortable on the skin and gives off a very cooling effect which feels so refreshing! At first, I was slightly worried that this would leave my skin feeling oily, however doesn't in the slightest which is great for my oily/combination skin!

The packaging is pretty simple, but I like that. From seeing this online, I thought it came out as a green sort of cream, but actually it's just your basic lotion. I know packaging doesn't affect the actual product but I have to admit that I'm not really interested or drawn in by a product that doesn't have a good appearance. This costs £9 which I think is very reasonable, but there always seems to be a discount code for The Body Shop floating around so could cost you even less! I actually bought this with a 50% off code so only cost me £4.50 which is a bargain for a product like this.

Overall, I am completely sold by this product, it is affordable, the packaging is very simple yet looks good, and most importantly it works! I have been using this for just over a month now and my skin has cleared up an awful lot. This is definitely worth a try for those who have acne/blemished skin.

New In: Beauty - Mac, Bourjois + Topshop

This month, I have picked up a few products that I've really been wanting to try out after hearing such good reviews on both Youtube, and in blog posts. I have finally gotten around to purchasing my first Mac palette and have began to make a start on my Mac eyeshadow collection which I'm sure will be huge before I know it! I also did some shopping in Boots, as well as in the Topshop makeup section!

Mac Quad -  I've wanted a Mac palette for so long and finally gave in and bought a quad to start with. I plan to fill at least two quads before I buy the 15 pan palette, but honestly cannot wait until I do!

Mac Eyeshadow in 'Naked Lunch' - I have been reading so many blog posts on Mac Palettes and after making a list of all of the eyeshadow shades that I want to try out, I finally narrowed it down to Naked Lunch which is a really easy to use shade.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder - I have heard so many good things about this powder, mainly from Viviannadoesmakeup and more recently Lily Pebbles, so of course had to give it a go! I've been trying to find this for a while now but could never seem to find my shade so when I finally found it I just had to buy it.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 'Nudist' -  Again, this is another recommendation and I've tried it just a few times already and love it! I know there are people who really don't like this product but it actually worked really well for me considering that I've never tried a product like this before so was pleasantly surprised.

Topshop Glow - I am really late on the bandwagon with this one but finally picked it up and so far, love it! It is super creamy and gives off such a natural glow to the face which somedays my skin is really lacking so this works really well to add some life back to my face.

Review: Nars Virtual Domination Palette

I was so excited when I saw this advertised, way before Christmas now, and it was the first thing to go on my Christmas list! Nars is a brand that I've always lusted over yet never got around to actually trying any of their products, so when I saw this I thought that it would be the perfect time/product to try out. This retailed at £45 and was an exclusive to Spacenk and possibly Sephora for those in America (please correct me if I'm wrong!), and unfortunately is no longer available due to it being their limited edition product that they bring out each year. I have been using at least one of the products from this palette almost everyday since I got it  and I love it!

First of all, do I even need to say anything about the packaging?! It's such lovely change from Nars' usual simple, yet sleek black packaging and is a lot thicker than most of the palettes that I own which I love as it feels very sturdy, yet I know a lot of people do not like this as it makes it a bit too bulky for travel. However, if you don't mind this taking up some extra room it means that you won't have to take separate blush, highlighter or bronzing products as this has all three in one compact palette which is very handy and right up my street!

As you can see from the photo below, this palette contains five products, three blush shades, one highlight shade and a bronzer. Of course they have included their iconic bronze shade, Laguna, and have made it bigger than the rest of the shades which I think is great as so far it has been my most used shade.

The highlight shade, 'Miss Liberty' is super shimmering so if your not into the whole highlight thing, then this probably isn't for you, but I think that it would look amazing for a night out! I have used this a few times so far and have just applied it very lightly to the high points of my cheek bones with my Real Techniques contour brush.

Out of the three blush shades, Deep Throat, Final Cut and Sex Fantasy, Deep Throat has to be my favourite as it reminds me of Mac's blush in Dainty which was my all time favourite blush shade for sooo long, yet think I might just be converted with Deep Throat.

At first, I was worried that Laguna would be too dark for my pale complexion but actually I was pleasantly surprised and have been using this most days.

Makeup Brush Storage

Over the past year or so, I have built up quite a collection of makeup brushes. It's not crazy big like some beauty bloggers/youtubers but it's pretty big for someone like me. There are still more brushes that I want to get my hands on, but until then, I still have all of the brushes that I 'need'. I say 'need' but does anyone need this many brushes, really?! I just can't resist buying new brushes and have my eye on the rose gold Zoeva brushes and also the new Real Techniques collection! So, on to the brushes.

Storage - As you can see from the photos, I store my brushes in two pots. I have one of the bigger cream pots from Ikea that seem to be a must have for beauty bloggers atm, and store my bigger brushes in here. I love this as it is the perfect size for storing my bigger brushes, not too short that you can't really see the brushes so makes it much easier when picking them out. I store my smaller brushes - mostly eye brushes - in another pot/cup from Ikea which I bought a really long time ago now but and which was at first too tall for the brushes so just put a few cotton wool balls at the bottom

Brands - My favourite brand for makeup brushes has to be Real Techniques as although they are so affordable they are amazing quality! They were the first brand that I bought any of my brushes from and have now got most of the collection. I also have two brushes from Mac which I love but that were pretty pricey compared to the brands that I usually buy from, but were so worth it! I use them every single day and they are still in the same condition that they were when I first bought them. Some of the other brands that I have bought brushes from are Elf, Ecotools and have even bought a few from Ebay which were surprisingly very good!

This was just a quick post about how I store my brushes but I'm definitely going to do a post on my brush collection where I will go into more detail about each of my brushes and also will include my top five brushes that I couldn't possibly live without!!

2015

This seems to be a somewhat popular post at this time of year and I love reading how people wish to improve/change/do things differently for themselves or their blogs in the new year. I'm not one for making and sticking to new years resolutions but I feel like that may be because I don't physically see it in front of me to remind me of it, I just kind of forget after a while, haha! I think by including it in a blog post I will have to stick to it, or at least try to!! Alright, so here goes...

Beauty:

I thought I'd kick it off with beauty as that's what I mostly interested in atm! I have way too many beauty products yet can't stop buying more and tend to buy things for the sake of buying things, so this year I'm going to try and only buy things that I can actually justify spending money on. This also applies to non-beauty related items and I'm not sure how long this one will last but I'm definitely going to try as it'll probably save me a bit of money that I can save for a few pricier things that I've had my eye on!
This year I would also love to try out different brands, some of which are completely new to me and some that I have tried a few products from but would like to try more of. Some that i really need to get more into are Nars, Charlotte Tilbury and Tarte!

Blog:

I definitely want to be a lot more consistent on the blogging front and am going to aim to post around twice a week, but at least once. I know this may sound like hardly anything to those who have been blogging for a while now, but I have never gotten into a proper routine when blogging and think that it's about time that I did!!
I'd also really like to invest in a good camera (any suggestions??) as at the moment I just use my iPhone.

School:

I really need to start revision earlier and really knuckle down with school work. I have improved since my first year in college but I want to do even better, so need to try even better!!
