Review: MAC Eyeshadow in Omega

I bought this eyeshadow from MAC about a year ago now and still have so much left! I mainly use it for my brows however it's slightly too dark for me atm as my hair has gotten lighter from the sun. I've seen so many bloggers/youtubers use this shade for their brows and it seems to work of for so many hair colours. I have blonde hair so using just a little bit of this shadow works really well to fill in my eyebrows in the areas that are looking more sparse than other parts.

The shadow is a matte, cool light brown colour (even though it doesn't really look like in the photos!) and for me, a little goes a long way. It is very pigmented like all of the MAC eyeshadows however is very powdery (sounds weird i know!). By this I mean when I put it on my brush I have to tap it on the side of pot before applying and a lot of powder comes off.  This doesn't really bother me though.

As always, the packaging from MAC is their usual simple black pot which like I've said before, I really like. Overall, I would recommend this product for people with dark blonde to light brown hair as a product for filling in their brows however also looks great on the eyelids!

Review: Body Shop 'Baked to Last' Blusher

I bought this product a few weeks ago from the Body Shop on a whim and it has become one of my go to blushers. It cost me £12 which I think is pretty reasonable for a high street blusher when being compared to my MAC mineralised blush which cost £20. This comes in two shades, I decided on shade 02, 'coral' which is slightly more warm toned than shade 01, 'petal' which actually looked quite similar to a blusher that i already have. This is described as a blush and highlighter duo but can be swirled together to make the perfect blush shade. I have on occasion used both shades separately and they do work well however the highlighter on it's own is slightly to warm toned for my liking and prefer to just swirl both shades together.

I absolutely love the packaging for this blusher. As you can see from the photos it is a hard clear plastic so that you can see the blusher inside and is dome shaped at the top. This is my favourite type of packaging as it's just so simple.

Stationary Haul

It's that time when everyones heading back to school/college/uni and are in need of a whole load of stationary. I absolutely love going out to buy new folders and notebooks however, this year I didn't have to buy too much as I still have quite a lot from last year that I can use again. My favourite places to buy new stationary are Paperchase and believe it or not Tesco, but I haven't had a chance to get down to Paperchase yet:(

These two folders are from Tesco, which surprisingly enough has some really nice stationary. I got these two as I loved the pastel colour on the first one and the pattern on the other. I like to have different folders for each subject so that I don't get confused and pick up the wrong one whilst I'm rushing out of the door in the morning!

I am in love with these notebooks. They are both from home sense, which is like a TK Maxx for home ware  I love the red one, it says 'holy bible journal' on the front. It's really thick which means it'll last me quite a while, as I hate having to go through notebook after notebook. The pink faux croc skin notebook is my favourite though, I can't wait to carry it around with me and will probably end up using it to note down any homework or essays that i have to complete.

Holiday Picks: A Peek into My Suitcase + Checklist

Here is a little peek into my suitcase for when I go on holiday (Warning: This post if picture heavy!!) . I'm not going for a few weeks yet, but I thought I'd get organised and sort out what i already have and what I need to get. A lot of the things that I have included are from h&m as I think that they have very good basic pieces that are really affordable so are great for holiday as I probably won't wear them again. I have also made a checklist of all the things that I think are essential to take with you on holiday, including both clothes and beauty items. Let me know if I've forgotten anything in the comments!

Inspiration #1

Holly Golightly's enchanting personality and timeless wardrobe never fail to inspire me. After watching Breakfast At Tiffany's for what was probably the hundredth time last night I found my self something searching 'how to dress like Holly Golightly'. I think it's the simplicity of the outfits and also the fact that she re-wears the same little black dress throughout the movie that draws me in. Even from the opening scene of the movie it is clear that Holly Golightly is an elegant women who loves the finer things in life (even if she can't afford them!). I especially love her black alligator shoes that she asks 'Fred' to find for her, if only I had a pair *sigh*. I also adore the way she just roles out of bed looking perfect with her eye mask and ear tassels.

As well as Holly Golightly being one of my fashion icons, I am so so jealous of her bath tub sofa! How cool would it be to have one of these?!

Holiday Picks: Makeup

I know that a lot of people don't like to wear much makeup when on holiday but if your like me and don't have perfect skin then you'll want to wear a bit of makeup. For holiday I prefer to wear a lighter base and use one that contains a good spf as well as wearing an oil free suncream underneath. I like to keep everything else quite simple and just dust on a bit of bronzer/blusher and apply a little bit of mascara. A lot of people forget to protect their lips when on holiday so I recommend buying a lip balm that contains a spf. However, if I'm going out in the night I usually go with my usual makeup look.

This post is a little different to what I'd usually post but I've recently gotten back into reading and decided to come up with a list of my top ten favourite books that would be perfect for reading over the summer or to read by the pool on holiday.  I've tried to include different genres of books so that there are some to suit everybody, and also because I couldn't chose just one type of book to read as I honestly enjoy reading so many types of books from the classics to sic-fi novels.

1.It by Alexa Chung

2.One Day by David Nicholls

3.The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

4.The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

5.The Host by Stephanie Meyer

6.The Catcher in the Rye by J.D.Salinger

7.To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

8.The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald

9.Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

10. Life of Pi by Yann Martel

Holiday Picks: Day to Night

I have chosen to style this white dress for both day and night because when on holiday you are usually limited in what you can take with you so may have to re-wear outfits a few times. I've chosen to style this white dress as it is so versatile and can so easily be dressed up for the night time.

Review: MAC Blot Powder

I bought the MAC blot pressed powder around christmas time due to not being able to find a powder that didn’t make my foundation look very layered and cakey. I went into the MAC store and explained what I was looking for and was suggested this powder and was matched to the shade ‘Medium Dark’ which actually isn’t dark at all as ironically I am fairly pale. This powder is a lot pricier than any you would get from the drugstore and retails at £20.50 which at first was a bit annoying but after using it only a few times it was clear that it was worth the money!

This powder is designed to stop the skin from looking oily when lightly layered over foundation and any other base products. The lady who matched me with this powder explained that it wouldn’t really give much coverage which it doesn’t, but I find is great for setting my foundation. I tend to apply this around the T-zone area as well as applying it over any areas that I have applied concealer as I find that it’s sets it really well and helps to prevent the concealer from wearing away as quickly as it usually would without any powder to set it.

As well as this being an amazing powder, I love the packaging. It's really simple but I like that. It's made with a hard black plastic which means you can easily wipe this clean if it gets a bit grubby. The fact that it has a mirror in makes it really handy when reapplying the powder throughout the day and also means that you can pop it in your bag and use the mirror.

Overall, I think this powder is great for people with oily/combination skin.  Even though it's on the pricier side I think it's well worth the money and I will definitely be repurchasing this!

Holiday Picks: Clothes

Here's part 2 of my 'Holiday Picks' series. Todays post is to give you some inspiration on what clothes to pack/buy for holiday. I'm currently still looking for some more last minute pieces but I think I know what I'm looking for. I've decided to split this post into three sections; whites, pastels and brights due to these all being current trends that are perfect for holidays.

2. Pastels

As always pastels are back for spring/summer and never fail look good. I think they look so flattering on all skin tones and give such a feminine feel to any look however look just as good when toughened up with a leather jacket and boots.
